Welcome Letter

Dear Students and Families,

Welcome to Room 3!

My name is Demetra Pitsios-Mihalopoulos and I love being a teacher. I have been teaching for 25 years and love working with PreK and Kindergarten children!

I am looking forward to the new school year. It’s going to be great! There are lots of new things we will learn about and discover through our play! We will play, play, and play some more each and every day! Most importantly, we will also get to know each other and our classmates individually so that we can be both kind and helpful within our classroom community and outside in the rest of our world!

I hope you had a fabulous summer and I can’t wait to hear about it. This summer, I was lucky enough to travel to Greece! We will look on a map and see where that is when you come to school. How do you think I traveled there? By bus? By airplane? By boat? Have you ever been on a bus or an airplane or a boat?

I am excited to meet you all on Wednesday, August 21st at Meet Your Teacher day if you are able to stop by between 12-3pm. If you can’t make it on that day, I will look forward to seeing you on Thursday, August 22nd on the first day of school!

We will start off our year getting to know each other and our families! I live at home with my husband, two sons and two parakeets named Tom and Jerry! Tom and Jerry never stop tweeting! Can you guess the type of animal they are? I have 4 people in my family plus 2 pets. How many people are in yours? Do you have any pets?

Here are a few of my favorite things:

  • Color: All shades of blue (Guess what color the walls of our classroom will be?)
  • Food: Moussaka (Do you have any idea what this is?)
  • Things to do: Go to any beach or ocean (Do you love to swim?)
  • Love reading books (What’s one book you read at home this summer?)
  • Trying new restaurants (What’s your favorite place to eat?)

I can’t wait to hear about all of YOUR favorite things!

Please bring in a picture of your family on the first day of school. We will have so much fun exploring ourselves, our families and our community! We will explore numbers and words and read many many books together this year!

Sincerely,

Ms. Demetra Pitsios-Mihalopoulos
