November Newletter 1

Friday, November 8, 2024

Dear Parents,

We finished our book Wallace and Grace and the Owl-0-ween Mystery by Heather Alexander. We started our new book Wallace and Grace and the Lost Puppy  by Heather Alexander.  Every day we work on our journals.  This week I have been encouraging our class to sound out their words and start writing independently in their journal.

Our All About Me last week and a little bit this week was Caleb, who shared a lot of fun items from home.  Take a look at all the pictures…

Thank you for your continued help reading with your child at night. This week, we cut out the feather for our reading turkey. Please help fatten up our turkey in front of the school by reading a book with your child every night to add the feathers to our wall.  Also on Thursday, November 21, is family reading night.  Please enjoy your favorite story with your child and have fun reading together.

We finished this week with the -ap family.  I have included the list here and also sent home a paper of the list in their bags.  Keep working with them on the words at home to continue to be successful in remembering each family.

The bird of the week is still popular with our classroom!  This week we talked about The Hummingbird!

The other day, we saw a robin in our backyard, and the kids were so excited to see them up close.

We have started doing more work in our math Journals.  I can’t wait to share these books with you during conferences.  We read the book Patterns and we looked at the pictures and the words, we talked about what you see, and we talked about the different patterns.  Ask your child which patterns we talk about?  We also talked about what comes next? Then also matched the pattern.   Along with learning, we played a game with our book.  The children rolled the dice to match the pattern on the game board and then placed the peg on each pattern’s right space.

Another successful week with Ms. Anna’s class!  Our class read many books with their buddy reader.

Sincerely,

Ms. Demetra
